Switzerland Passport & Visa Information
To gain entry into Switzerland a passport with at least 3 months validity after the intended period of stay is required by all nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA and other EU states. EU nationals who produce a valid national ID card will be allowed entry. Nationals of Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain with a standard passport that has expired up to 5 years providing employment has not been taken will be allowed entry; and nationals of Germany with expired passports up to 1 year will also be allowed entry.
Travellers who arrive at Geneva or Basle airports can enter via either France or Switzerland as long as all their documentation is in suitable good order. Travellers are able to exit by the French part of the airport with a valid French or Schengen visa.
A return ticket is not required by nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA and other EU states.
