About Cape Town
The fantastic city of Cape Town has something for everyone as it celebrates the past and looks to the future with optimism.

Cape Town is considered the most vibrant city in South Africa and there is a relaxed, almost Mediterranean air where pines, palms and frangipani grow. In winter there is a lot of rain in Cape Town, and during the ‘southeaster’ season, the infamous Table Mountain experiences its distinctive ‘tablecloth’ with a strip of fluffy white cloud hovering over the summit.

Table Mountain is a must-see in Cape Town. The queues for the cable car can be horrendous, but the ride is worth the wait. Table Mountain, of course, is a remarkable landscape but there are many fantastic things to see in Cape Town.

The Victoria and Albert Waterfront is often dismissed as touristy but there is nothing more relaxing than wandering around in the sunlight, enjoying the shops, stopping for a beer and listening to the musicians.

Hiring a car in Cape Town is advisable – the city centre is small and you will definitely want to explore the surroundings. The vineyards of Constantia are only 10 minutes outside of Cape Town city centre and exploring the vistas around the Cape is a must. Not only that but parking within the city centre is no problem.

Cape Penninsula

The Cape Peninsula extends 50km south of Cape Town and is a feast of tree covered mountain slopes and huge cliffs, rocky bays and lagoons. For the best beaches, visit the northern end, with warmer waters facing False Bay.

The road stays close to the sea wherever it can making hiring a car a good option for the best sightseeing. Visit Hout Bay for the best harbour on the west side of the peninsula and is the home of a fishing fleet.

Wine Country

South Africa is recognised as a producer of many high quality wines. The university town of Stellenbosch is perhaps the most famous. Paarl is the headquarters of the wine giant cooperative KWV.

To visit the most pretty vineyard villages, go to Franschhoek, or ‘French Corner’ where French refugees settled in the 1600’s bringing their wine productions skills with them. Vineyard tours and tastings are available at all of these places.
