About FezFez is the spiritual and cultural centre of Morocco. The most ancient of the imperial cities, Fez is a city of enormous variety and contrast. While the city is unrivalled in the splendour and beauty of its monuments and architecture, its geography precludes change. The small streets cannot be widened, which can be a blessing as there are no cars, with a distinct lack of modern transport within the medina.
As you walk through Fez it’s souks, mosques, dye pits, restaurants, workshops and markets compete for your attention and attack your senses. The narrow, crowded streets are buzzing with activity. At the heart of the medina is the Karaouiyne Mosque, which remains the religious centre of Morocco.
Flights from the UK to Marrakech are regular, and transfers to Fez can be organised cheaply.
