The sun shines and the festivals are held in the summer which falls between June and August while the skiing is best done in between the months of December and February. Generally The Czech Republic gets good weather although it’s always worth checking prior to visiting as suitable clothing is advised.
The Czech Republic is a signatory of the Schengen Agreement, 1994.
In order to gain entry into the Czech Republic a passport with at least 3 months validity beyond the length of stay is required by all nationals of Australia, Canada, USA and other EU states. British nationals may produce a passport with validity for the total length of stay. EU nationals with a valid national ID card are able to gain entry.
Note: Persons under the age of 15 years are able to travel under their parents’ passport.
A return ticket is not required by nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA and other EU states.
A visa is not required by nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA and EU states. Nationals of EU states may stay for an unlimited period. Nationals of Australia, Canada and the USA can stay for a period of up to 90 days.
EU nationals and other nationals who do not need a visa and who intend to stay for longer than 30 days must register with the Alien and Border Police within 30 days of arrival. All other nationals must register with the Alien and Border Police within 3 days of arrival; this is irrespective of the intended length of stay. Accommodation providers will usually make arrangements for this to be done for their guests so please ask at reception when checking in.
British Overseas Citizens, holders of British Travel Documents (blue) under the 1995 Geneva Convention and holders of British Travel Documents (brown) for tourism and business visits do require a visa and must apply for this in person.
