A typically warm Mediterranean climate Cyprus experiences hot and dry summers with relatively mild winters with regular rainfall.
The best time to travel to Cyprus and find the hot weather is the beginning of May. As soon as you approach the month of June it starts to get very hot. As you get into August the hot weather starts to moderate until October.
For entry into Cyprus all visitors must be able to produce a full passport with at least 3 months validity beyond the intended length of stay. EU nationals holding a valid national ID card may enter without a passport provided a photograph is displayed on the ID card.
Nationals with stamps or visas from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will only be allowed entry into Cyprus once their visa or stamps are cancelled by the immigration authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
Nationals are only permitted to enter the Republic of Cyprus through Larnaca or Paphos airports, or the ports of Lamaca, Limassol, Latsis and Paphos which are all situated in the area under effective control of the government of the Republic of Cyprus. Entry via any other airport or port into the area of Cyprus of which the government of the Republic of Cyprus is in control is illegal.
Visas are not required for nationals of Britain, Canada, Australia, USA or any other EU states for stays of up to 90 days. For longer stays nationals will need to apply for a residence permit by contacting the civil registration and migration department.
