About Siem Reap
Siem Reap is the name of the main city that plays host to the famous temples of Angkor Wat located in the north of Cambodia. The ancient complex of temples that are spread over a huge area of over 400 square miles and are widely considered to be one of the 7 fascinating wonders of the world dating back to the 13th century. Angkor Wat was the home of a powerful Kingdom that was the most extensive urban complex in the world for its time but sadly became and became buried beneath the canopy of the forest for thousands of years until discovered and reported to the West by a French explorer called Henri Mouhot in 1863.

You can quite literally fill your brain with as much cultural intake as it can handle in Angkor Wat!

Siem Reap is quite a large place so you would be well advised to seek the services of a tuk tuk driver who will take you around and show you the sights for a very reasonable price. Make sure you only use the drivers wearing the beige jackets with numbers on the back as they are official guides subsidised by the government and completely trustworthy.
