About Andorra La Vella
Andorra La Vella is a tiny principality in the heart of the Pyrenees, contains some of Andorra´s most breathtaking scenery. Located in the south west of Andorra, Andorra La Vella’s climate of hot summers and cold, snowy winters is very conducive to health and fitness, as well as providing the best skiing in the Pyrenees.

The town is not big and most hotels in Andorra La Vella are of a high standard and within walking distance of one another. Surprisingly for a capital city, it is three hours drive from the nearest airports, at Toulouse, Girona, Perpignan and Barcelona.

The Andorra La Vella town has many attractions. Of course, taking advantage of the duty-free shopping is a must, but if you want to relax then visit Caldea spa. The interior is laid out in a "Hanging Gardens of Babylon" style, and the facilities are impressive - indoor-outdoor pools, with fountains and waterfalls, saunas, hot-tubs, Turkish baths, hydrotherapy, sunbeds and massage.

Dining out in Andorra La Vella offers plenty of choice. Seafood is popular and the traditional Catalan restaurants serve it to a very high standard. Despite being in the mountains, it is delivered fresh from the coast on a daily basis!

Skiing

The main activity here is skiing. There are 160 slopes all throughout Andorra, where you can practice your favorite winter sport, skiing, snowboarding... etc. In addition to these activities, you can also go hiking in the multitude of routes that the countryside has to offer whose hikes can last from one hour to several days. During the springtime and summer, you can also practice more extreme sports such as cliff hanging, rock climbing, or maybe something a little more tame, such as cycling, all to be practiced with the backdrop of the breathtaking Sordeny Natural Park.

The main airport that feeds the area is Andorra La Vella International airport which has the airport code ALV.

Please note that due to the regularity of low cost flights into Barcelona it has become a popular decision to fly into Barcelona and hire or car or get a transfer up to Andorra.

Getting Around Andorra La Vella

Taxis
There are three main roads that run out of Andorra La Vella and you have a choice of six main bus routes that are currently in operation taking you in all directions. If you stop in to any tourist information office they will give you a timetable and provide helpful advice on how you can take advantage of these services.

A helpful hint if you are driving a car is to try to utilise use the ring road that goes round the south side of the city as traffic jams and reckless driving can occur in the centre.
